Friends of Rake Lane Cemetry

The work is now complete on the roof and spire of the old chapel. A new cross has been dedicated and installed on top of the spire of St Elisabeth the Martyr Russian Orthodox church.

The renovated memorial to still-born babies was finished recently. Its situation is much improved, being set well back from the main path.

Our monthly Sunday walks will take place on the following Sundays: 8th May; 12th June; 10th July and 14th August. Each walk lasts about an hour and they cover three different aspects of the cemetery: military, national maritime disasters and local history. To book, please phone Thurstaston Visitor Centre on 648 3884.

The Friends meet on the first Monday of each month at 7 pm at Earlston Library except for May, when it will be held on Tuesday 3rd because of the bank holiday. Anyone who has an interest in the cemetery is welcome to come to the meeting.
