Mount Primary

The whole school community has believed passionately about the importance in protecting our environment and the need to save energy. Three Years ago the children elected an Eco-Committee who have worked tirelessly on behalf of the whole school to raise awareness of environmental issues.

We have focused on three areas Energy, Healthy Living and developing our school grounds. We have reduced our energy bills and we are one point from achieving our C rating. We were awarded a Gold Star Energy Certificate by the Eco Schools Board for all the fantastic work we had done to reduce our energy bills.

The Eco-Committee alongside the School Council worked with a Catering Consultancy firm to design our own Lunch menus. We now have a deli bar at lunchtime that serves delicious wraps and sandwiches as well as our hot food bar.

We really enjoy learning outdoors; we now have an outdoor classroom which our site manager Mr Parsons built for us. We have a beautiful nature garden and our own allotments that we grow vegetables in, these then go to our school kitchen.

We are so proud of our school community and receiving our Green Flag means so much to us.
