Message from the Worshipful the Mayor of Wirral
Councillor John Cocker

Best wishes to all Walrus readers for the year 2002. Let us hope it is a more peaceful one than last year!

My year of office has been amazingly informative. After 32 years of living an active life in Wirral, Pauline and I have discovered many organizations and places that we had never heard of before!

I have frequently likened the role of mayor to a cross between Harry Potter and Father Christmas - it is unreal and mystical, but everyone is pleased to see you! Each day is busy, and engagements span seven days a week. The trick is not to eat too much and keep smiling.....

When we finally retire from political activity we will look back on the year 2001/2002 with great pride and pleasure.
