NEW BRIGHTON JUBILEE CARNIVAL In this Jubilee year the Carnival will take place
on 8th and 9th June. It will be held on the dips as it was last
year and we hope to make it an even better event.
As it is Jubilee year we had thought of asking a member of the Royal Family to attend but it seems that they are all booked elsewhere....so we are going to hold a "ROYAL LOOK-ALIKE" competition to see if we can find somebody local to fit the bill. Do you know anyone who looks like a member of the Royal Family? If so please give us a call on 639 5798. The competition will take place on MONDAY 3RD JUNE on the Bandstand in Vale Park as part of the Friends of Vale Park's Garden Party. There will also be a competition for a teenage CARNIVAL KING AND QUEEN and for a LITTLE MISS JUBILEE competition for the under 10's. Another feature of the CARNIVAL will be an TUG OF WAR COMPETITION sponsored by the New Brighton Trade and Business Association. We are looking for teams from local Pubs and organisations to compete for an annual shield and a crate of beer. Prospective teams should contact Ron Jones on 637 0300. A Junior Tug of War Competition for schools, guides, scouts etc will also be organised - details nearer the time. The Carnival is organised by volunteers to promote New Brighton and to give people in the community an opportunity to promote themselves and perhaps raise funds for their organisation. If you are interested in having a stall please contact Veronica on 630 5054 - £6 per day, £10 for the weekend. If you wish to be involved in any other way contact Rusty on 639 5798. All ideas are welcome. There will be a Fun Fair , entertainment and a Junior Soccer Tournament and a Parade on the Saturday. Also a weekend of The Rhythm and Blues Festival will form part of the event. The MAY edition of WALRUS will contain full details but you don't have to wait - get involved now. |
