The purpose of each area forum will be to consider the needs and priorities of the area and to translate these into an action plan. This action plan will contribute (through the Local Strategic Partnership) to Wirral's overall Community Strategy and, at area forum level, will be the blueprint for the work of a Local Service Co-ordination Group.

The Area Forum for East Wallasey (New Brighton, Liscard and Seacombe ward) has held two meetings - 23rd October 2001 and 28th January 2002 - and both were well received by all concerned.

The Forum has considered:

• A report on the various activities which had been taken after the Ward Roadshows.
• A position statement on youth provision throughout the area.
• Nominated Paul Hayes to represent it on the Local Strategic Partnership.
• Established a small sub-group to consider applications for Community Initiative Funding.
• A report from David Ball (Wiral Waterfront Initiative) on the various projects which would affect the area. Specifically in relation to New Brighton assurances were given that the Wirral Waterfront Initiative and Merseytravel were looking at New Brighton Station and the immediate surround.
• A report from Highway and Engineering Services covering highways and traffic management, repairs and improvement schemes, parking schemes and street lighting.
• Possible provision for a Skateboard Park.

Rita Fraser represents the New Brighton Community Partnership on the Forum and reports back on its activities to the Community Partnership.
