YOUR VIEWS:

We asked a selection of people for their views on New Brighton. Here are some of them. If you would like yours to be included in our next edition, e-mail them to rusty@newbrightonwalrus.co.uk
  • NADIA : "Wiser" age category- It would be lovely to paint the railings, shelter houses and waste bins a pale blue so that we would look more like the Mediterranean.
  • JOE : Mature age bracket - There is a serious lack of public toilets around, particularly at the bottom of Victoria Road.
  • HEATHER: aged 50 - loves living in New Brighton but, along with countless others, thinks that a Leisure Complex of some kind would enhance our reputation. The Community Partnership is involved in issues and in economic decision-making. It would be good if more in the community would use this channel of communication so that we know more of your views.
  • KATE: aged 10 - I like living in New Brighton because it's near the sea so I can watch the waves!
  • SHIRLEY: aged 57 - a swimming pool would be a great advantage, also a Skateboard Park for the youngsters.
  • RENI: "mature lady" - we need a Leisure Centre with a swimming pool for the use of residents who pay Council tax, and to attract people from the surrounding area. The emphasis should be on health giving facilities since this area has the highest incidence of heart and lung disease. We also need better shopping facilities.
  • STEFAN: aged 7 - I think New Brighton is great because there are lots of things to see and do - like Fort Perch Rock.
  • JOAN: retired - A Leisure Centre incorporating facilities for indoor sports - table tennis, squash etc. - which would be all year round attractions.
  • HARRY AND YVONNE: local traders - While everyone would like to see more development in New Brighton, we should not forget we have a beautiful water front with plenty of open spaces so why not enjoy it while we can?
